This was my entry for a painting contest in my country about realistic painting. First I had to present a pic of my work after that the judges chose only 22 as finalists. Mine was chosen so I had to show the original work framed. Finally I didn't win but my picture is being exhibited in the museum with the other 21 paintings.
"Fructus Ventris" This painting represents a pregnant woman. The fruit represents her baby and she is showing the fruit asking for mercy cuz the baby has a heart failure and can die soon therefore there is a black shadow around her representing the death.
I tried to put some of green in the background representing a lil hope she has. The blue clothes recalls to me the image of Virgen Mary as mother at the same time the blues mean to me the prayers around the situation making think of the sky and therefore to Heaven, like waiting for a kind of miracle.
The colour of her skin represent the humanity, her eyes were crying and now she is kinda complaining but trying to find a bit of help asking for mercy.
The fruit represents the lil baby inside. The fruit brings the vivid colour representing the life, an alive human being, that small, that defenceless, but that is already fighting for surviving.
I prepared during a month studies in pencils to study the shapes and features, then the next month I dedicated like 8 hours at day during 22 days after that I took a week to varnish and putting the frame.
